Greetings Fellow Forest Trail Falcons!
Welcome to my profile page. Please allow me to tell you a little bit about myself.
Professionally: This is my sixteenth year teaching, my twelfth in Kindergarten, and my sixth year here at FTE. Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach. I am ESL and GT certified and have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialization. I personally feel that teaching is more of a vocation than a profession. I feel very blessed to teach children to read; something they will use every single day for the rest of their lives! I feel especially blessed to be here at Forest Trail Elementary.
Personally: After being widowed 24 years ago, I met and married my husband, Terry, who had also been widowed. We joined our families together twelve years ago. Our family now consists of: Danielle and her husband Dennis, their three children Jackson (age 7), Nathaniel (age 5) and Annabelle Lily (1); Adam and his wife Charlotte, their son Carson (age 6), and Emma Grace; age 3;. Allyson (a seventh grade teacher in Katy ISD), and her husband Grant; and Dustin. Dustin made us all extremely proud by serving our great country in the United States Army for the past 5 years! He was recently medically retired from the Army and is continuing his education at LSU.
My husband and I moved to Austin 5+ years ago and are very happy that we relocated to this beautiful city! We love to take our camper out on the weekends to some of the beautiful places nearby, but mostly, we enjoy spending time with our grandchildren. We never tire of being called "Gigi and Papa".
I am one of eight children (middle child). I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters. One brother and one sister are in heaven with my mom and dad. I am a huge sports fan and my favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs and the Houston Texans! I also like the Astros and Rangers, however, they are second and third after my Cubbies! My husband is a die-hard Cowboys fan so it gets a little tense around my house when the Cowboys play the Texans, even in preseason!
I want your child to have an amazing and memorable beginning to a lifetime of learning! I look forward to partnering with you to make this year a huge success!
